This exists because my sister asked for it. She's a criminal attorney here, and years ago, she went through one of these cases herself. She told me that even now, when she travels alone, there are times she feels frightened, with no easy way to reach anyone. When Stay Alert launched years ago, with a panic button that could reach the police, she called it heaven-sent. But then it quietly disappeared. In 2024, she asked me if I could build an app that did what Stay Alert had done, but for the realities of today.
So we built more than a way to call for help: the people who love you know the moment something is wrong, and the people whose job it is to respond are brought in — without you having to stop, explain, or say anything out loud.
And my sister wasn't the only person who noticed that Stay Alert was gone. In 2024, a former National Security Minister publicly called for its return. The need never disappeared. What was missing was something built to last — and AegisProtect is built by Jamaicans to be it.
